I've tracked down a service that repairs these boards for around $100. My question to you is: should I spend the money?

The reason I ask is that I did some searching for reviews on this model and the comments were not at all positive. Apparently this board fries quite regularly. Also, very negative comments on LG and how poorly they stand behind their warranty.

Any feedback will help me decide and will be appreciated.

All brands suck. Some LG have 2 years instead of one. I see less LG than the rest. This sets is over 3 years old I believe. If you sink $100 and it last for another 3 years, you did good. I think you can figure out what I do this for a living. When plasmas first came out they were $10,000. The public wanted cheaper. You got it. I sent a friend who owns a bar in to buy an Insignia 50" plasma for $700 made by Samsung. He bitched about the price. Off over in the other corner is a 35" CRT set he paid $1600 for. A good 27" back in the day was $350. People would pay $125 to get them fixed so $100 isn't out of line.

Do you mean a part number for the whole board? Are you suggesting replacing the whole board?

Welcome to my world. Yes the whole board.

Did you check the caps on the power supply? Check the VS and VA voltage?

I looked over the circuit boards for obvious damage and found nothing. However, I checked all the ceramic fuses I could find and one 4A-250V fuse on the YSUS board was open. Trouble is, I don't know if it blew because it may have been weak or if something caused it to blow.

All I did for caps check was inspect for bulging tops. I know that's not very reliable, but the caps on the power supply look fine. If anything, those on the YSUS board do look slightly bulged in comparison, but I'd have to remove it to test them and that will be a job in itself.
