Yes, the replacement laser comes with a metal shorting link accross all contacts on its ribbon cable. I realise some have a shorting link on the pcb. I probarly need to get my hands on a scematic and do some checks around the control ic etc. If anyone has one I would appreciate a copy.

Did you remove the shorting clip / solder ball from the new optical pickup?  |

Hi All.
My first post. Received a Phillips FW 316 C mini HiFi system for repair recently which will not read any cd's. After initally cleaning laser unit problem still present.
I fitted a new laser unit but still no joy. I dont have a scematic diagram for this unit. Any suggestions.
Any help greatly appreciated.
