Sirs, I have this TPS L2 sony walkman working in wonderful condition. But one fo the belts gave in. I opened the set( no repairers near my place) very carefully. I could identify the belt missing. its from the horizontal motor and ending somewhere. I know one end thats motor shaft end. but where is the other end going? other belt is intact, its originating from the stepm of a bigger brass wheel and ending ina plastic white wheer with no idlers inbetween. Kindly let me know where the other belt ends? i am not able to find this. its going under the switches/ and nearer to Rubber tape idler wheel. THANK YOU !!! |

That is indeed an oldie. Back in the days, I use to have all sorts of belts and kits and almost always used the "measure methode" to find a replacement. No doubt finding belts are rather difficult. There was PRBline.com with rather extensive cross reference and I always had good luck with them. They were acquired by russel industries but I think they are still around. Check here; http://russellind.com/downl.htm D/load the PRB belt cross reference and look for your model to get their part number. May want to call.--not sure if they have distributors or direct? BTW; your unit was based on even an older sony model TCM-600 which shared many parts. Good luck |

Correction: The Walkman is a TPS-L2, if that helps. It's the original U.S. model from 1979. |

|
I have a first model Sony Walkman in great condition, except today one of the two drive belts snapped. Does anyone know where I could find a compatible belt? Sony is no help, of course. Junkers on fleabay sell for nearly $100 for parts and their belts are likely worse. Anyone know if any of the newer model belts will work, or a good source of little rubber belts like would be used in this walkman? Thanks in advance for any tips. |
