I recently bought a mini-van that included a flip down dvd player/monitor. It doesn't work, but I would like to see if I can get it working again. When you insert a DVD you can hear it start spinning and then stop and then starts spinning again and stops. It keeps spinning up for a while until eventually it displays a disk error on the monitor. I have tried several DVD's and I know they all work.

I would like to just replace the DVD drive, but I can't find an exact replacement. I want to try to use a DVD drive from a computer and modify it to fit in the player. The DVD Player uses FFC/ZIF type cable so i would have to use an adapter. Also because it is in a car DVD player I am not sure if there would be issues with the vibrations and bumps from being in a car.

I guess what I am wondering is whether it looks like this will work. If you have any other ideas please let me know.
