I have this same problem but my screen will flash the "W" westinghouse logo fully illuminated for a fraction of a second when the set is first powered on. Afterthat, it will not illuminate at all again. Shining a flashlight shows good picture image on the screen, just no backlight. Any thoughts? |
For those interested, I got this figured out. There is an LED strip that runs across the inside bottom edge of the LED display panel. There is a plastic ribbon cable that is connected to each side of the LED strip that provides power to the LEDs that are the display backlight. One of the sockets where a ribbon cable attaches was not properly soldered to the LED strip, causing open or short circuit issues depending on gravity and position of the socket. It was totally free floating. I guess the processor would light the LEDs on start up then realize there's a problem and shut them down to prevent damage. I disassembled the LED display, resoldered the socket to the strip, and all is good. |

Thanks |
