You don't say what the model of TV set is.... but you did say an old VHF/UHF, if this is of the ac/dc variety, ya know the ones, they have the valve heaters in series and use one side of the mains input as ground - there, that should give you a clue as to what would happen when switched on.

You can not go connecting anything at all to ac/dc type sets as it 'can' be extremely dangerous if not lethal.

Better to know the make n' model before saying anymore.

My guess is, if you don't know how to do this you shouldn't be fiddling with televisions because of the lethal voltages inside.

I have an old stereo that only has the wire connections. I dont know what they are called, but they are red and black wires with open ends. I want to connect the speakers to my tv. My tv is an old UHF/VHF tv. What kind of connecter do I need?
