The best way is to use a ESR meter but a standard capacitance meter would work also but not 100%.
A standard analogue or digital meter would give you a rough idea only.
It is the capacitance you are concerned with when testing although the voltage must be fully discharged and a good way to do this would be to use a 1k resistor accross the terminals and then remove the capacitor from the circuit. Switch the meter to ohms range if capacitance option not available and if short circuit you will obtain a low reading but you would normally expect the resistance to continually increase and go over range if a high value and reversing the terminals to start again.

400 volt capacitor how to know its leckage or damaged



one day my own digital satellite reciver not working

itry but not fix

i went to technican and he only change the 400 volt capacitor

my capacitor was like new one


my question is how to know its leckage


i have analog and digital meter

which is best for capacitor
