|
|
A friend of mine (who's not on the net) has a Samsung Rear Projection TV with a split from screen, his kids where being to rough in front of it!.
He's looked on Vance Baldwin to try to get a replacement and they have one listed @ $240. The part number is BP67-00045A.
The screen consits of 2 parts (front and back) of plastic. One is clear, the other is darker (the front one). It's the darker sheet that is split, the clearer part is fine.
Is there anywhere he can obtain another sheet for it?
Is it a specially treated sheet?
Can he use something similar in color to do the same job?
It's only a 'smoked' peice of perspex, but he's not sure if it'll work with a normal peice of plastic.
How does he stand? Should he only get the recommended screen? |

Can't help you on this one. $240 isn't that bad. |

I doubt he'll pay it though.
Probaly get a new TV before he replaces the screen then. |

Here's the deal. Any screen will work. Say you take a screen from a 50". As long as the center of the screen stays in the center, you're fine. Go to the local repair shop and see what their throwing out. Take the 43" screen, lay it on say the 50' screen and mark around it keeping the center the center. As long as you cut off equal amounts from the top/bottom left/right the center stays the center and no one will be the wiser except your pocket book. |

Do you have any idea's where he might get the service manual? The silly sod's pulled wires off the boards (the single ones moreso) and doesnt know where they go back (Dickhead!) |

Either that or upload it to the service manual section here. |
