JVC HV53 PRO

Seeming identical problem jkeisert described previously. As suggested by minnie, I've replaced the Convergence ICs (both). Unfortunately, it had no effect.

Am stationed overseas, no reliable electronic mx around here...anyone have any other ideas regarding this problem? Can send pics if it will help.

Thanks much.

If the ic's didn't fix it you need to check the bias resisters and power supply.

Minnie - afraid I'm not that knowledgable about which/where those might be. Have studied the schematic but it's not obvious to me. If I opted for board-level swapout, which one would you recommend I start with?

Thanks again.

Okay, thanks very much. Is the power supply you mentioned also on that board?

I'd have to see the service manual. If you have it, email it to me.

Hi Minnie. Sorry, all I have is the owners manual. Would it help if I emailed you a picture of the board?

Really appreciate your assistance, few options here.

Look on the board. JVC usually puts the pert #'s on the board.

Will look for those part #s. How many bias resistors are there?

Also, ref this posting: www.pechorin.com/m/2006/05/06/JVC_HV53PRO-261008.html, describes a similar problem. Have you ever heard of these projection tubes needing fluid? How would one check to see if they are fully filled? I don't think that's the problem though as I've noticed that the tubes (all three) flicker irregularly every second or two. Problem affects all 3 tubes so I suspect it must be power related. Sound reasonable?

Link is bad but, if they were low on fluid, the whole inside of the TV would be wet. There should be 6 resisters. R/G/B vertical, R/G/B horizontal. Usualy around 1/3.3 ohm.
