|
My JVC AV-28T67SKE when switched on the other day had large bright concentric colored circles all over the screen with their center in the middle of the screen.
When I unplugged the TV from the mains and waited for some time, the symptom disappeared.
Any clue was is happening?
Thanks. |

What happened is that your picture tube was magnetized. sometimes vacuming near the reciever or placing speakers on top of the reciever or near it will cause the Picture tube to magnetize. TVs have a built in "degaussing coil" when the TV is turned on, it will show a rainbow of colors. When you turned off the TV then turned it back on the degaussing coil demagnetized the picture tube. It will probably not happen again if you are careful not to place anything magnetic or vacume near the reciever. |

That explains everything. I usually leave the tv set on standby. Consequently by soft staring it no degaussing function is performed. It seems degausiing happens only on hard power on.
Thanks for your advice. |

yes, i forgot to tell you that degaussing does not happen with using your remote. Thre is also a degaussing coil you can buy to demagnetize the reciever. You can buy it at radio shack or other store. But this days you don't need it. back in the day when color TV's were first manufactured, they were not solid state but used vaccume Tubes instead of transistors. TV repairmen would have to replace the tube and then demagnetize it. |

Turning it on and off and letting it sit should do the trick. |
