Amplifier powers on and produces sound, then power light and sound fade out. This continues cycling indefinately. Any suggestions on the cause??

You pulled out from car ?
Is the load not lower than 2ohms ?
what kind of PS are you using to test?

if you answers are :
Yes
Yes
more than 10Amps

Then you could have problems on the PS SMPS IC.

Thanks for your response. Amp is out of car now. Problem was the same when installed in car. Load is always 4 ohms. Power supply is 12V 2.5 amp. I can easily reconnect in car if needed for testing.

Thanks, Brad

My cousin asked me to repair his kicker amp for him same style as yours. i found that it wasn't the input side that was failing. it is the output side that is failing. i have repaired my cousins. i am still waiting for him to test it in his car but i was able to power it up with out it cycling anymore in my repair shop. if his works then i believe i could fix yours in the same manor. the reason it is cycling is this, when it powers up the output is shorting out pulling the input down then the output turns off allowing it to power up again.
