Hello,
I wonder if someone can give me some repair advise.

I have a Kenwood DP-M5520 6 CD player that has the following fault.

initially when turned on, you can make it start to load a CD from the trays, however when the CD gets 1/2 way into the main player tray it stops, a little nudge will enable it to continue.

This I think may be the band on the left rear that controls backward/forward movement as it appears to be slipping greatly.

Not a problem to replace, however once a CD is in the drive it does not appear to play, it will sometimes spin a turn sometimes not yet always eject the CD back to the main carrier every time.

Can anyone suggest where to look, what possible faults may be.
Has anyone got a service manual for this too please.

Thank you,
Mattylad.

A similar model may do as I suspect that the CD chassis may be the same.

Sometimes, cleaning the laser will resolve reading problems...

Don't know if you've done that already??

But it's word a shot!

A slipping belt indicates heavy usage, so it could be that the laser is simply getting "old".

Thankyou, I'll try that.

I also found what looks like a broken tooth on the toothed rack that controls the bac/forwards motion of the cd tray.

Will have to see if I can find a spares supplier for this now ta.

It's now gone into the bin.

It was too much hassle to find replacement parts for it.

thanks anyway.
