How can this be corrected?
What is causing this problem?
The cable company was just out and the amps read-28.3
The VCR amps read-14.4
Connected together they read 30.4
The outlet was also tested at the same time and no problems were found there.
Any advice on what to do next?
I really hate having to replace these items, do I need to?
Can this be repaired?

What are these "amps" you are throwing up as being measured by the cable company? AS expressed, none of this makes any technical sense. Was he talking about signal strength or line level? In order to solve a technical problem, you first have to define the problem. Amps is a current measurement associated usually with the power source. For the sake of clarity, 22 amps with a 115 volt supply is 2530 watts. This is above the typical fuse rating of 15 to 20 amps. So before you can make a decision about your situation, you need to determine the present state of your equipment . Apparently, your cable person doesn't know how to explain the operation of his own cable system. Call the supervisor and have an ENGINEER EXPLAIN what the problem is and what needs to be done to resolve it.
