Hi...

Does anyone have a diagram / or experience / or service manual for a Philips DVD 712 player? (/051 UK model)

I need to fix the switch mode PSU board. Symptoms are that it failed while watching a DVD last night. Now there is not even standby led activity. There was NO burning smell when I removed the cover. Mains is present on the input to the pcb.

On visual inspection there are no dry joints or split capacitors.

Thanks.

Although I am not acquaint with that particular model, if indeed the SMPS has failed with no DC coming out of it, then its almost certainly the main heat sink mounted chip, and will be situated next to chokes or a small open wound type transformer.

Exercise caution!!, as although there may not be any low voltage output, there will still be approx 300 odd DC volts going into the chip, and is liable to be still at a high level after about 30 minutes or so disconnected from the mains.
