Hi all,
I've been having a problem with this tv for a few days (20f514td atc116 chasis) where it was shutting off and turning itself back on. I finally narrowed the problem down to the front panel buttons. Anyway I was wondering if anyone had any advice on how to repair this problem or if anyone has a service manual for this tv that I can download.

Do you have a part number for the tack switches? |

I appreciate the replies, but I was hoping to be able to get an RCA part number or find somewhere I can order this part that does not require that I order it in bulk. In the mean time I've locked out the front panel in the setup menu, but the random key presses from the faulty keypad is occasionally causing an osd box to pop up. However the tv is no longer shutting off and turning on unexpectedly. |

It's not that hard to use a soldering iron. _________________ You're over there, I'm over here. |

He means bad solder joints. Re-solder the tack switches. |

No. It sounds like he's talking about replacing the WHOLE board ("Plug n Play").
I meant:
Once you have taken your measurements and procured however many tactile switches you wish to replace from Digikey, you can then take a soldering iron (and some desoldering braid) and replace the switches on that board. |

Tried looking up the part number for the board and got this:
SERVICE CENTER ADMINISTRATIVE
N O T I C E
PRODUCTS: RCA Color TV NUMBER: 2006-002
BRANDS COVERED: RCA DATE: 11/15/2006
To: All Authorized Service Centers
Topic: Warranty Policy Change.
To improve customer service, reduce warranty costs and refocus efforts to providing In-Home service for DLP, Rear Projection CRT, and larger screen LCD and Plasma Televisions, we have decided to move all 24” and smaller directview televisions including Combo models and all 32” and smaller LCD televisions to an exchange model. As a result, RCA Parts will no longer carry spare parts to support field repair of these products. In addition, effective 12/1/06 these products will no longer be eligible for field repair and, consequently, any warranty or service contract labor or parts claims submitted for such models that are initiated after 12/1/06 will be denied.
To support our mutual customers we ask that you direct consumers who contact you for service on the affected models to contact RCA TV directly by calling 1-866-775-0975 to troubleshoot their unit. If the care center determines the unit is defective, the care center will work directly with the consumer to ensure the exchange is accomplished in a timely manner.
In addition, we will no longer inventory Direct-view CRTs. Rear Projection CRTs will still be available and are not affected by this policy change. As a result, should you encounter a field repairable model 27” and larger that requires a CRT, please contact the RCA Consumer Relations’ team at1-866-465-7157. The Consumer Relations’ team will work with you and your customer to arrange for a replacement unit. We will pay you your Intermediate Warranty Labor rate for diagnosing the defective CRT In Labor-warranty. If you also, assist us with facilitating the replacement of the defective units In Labor-Warranty, your total warranty reimbursement will be equal to your Major Warranty Labor rate. |
