I have a Hitachi 46F500A projection television that has a "clicking noise" similar to a turn signal on a car with a red LED on front panel blinking at same rate. It will continue to cycle on and off. When the unit comes on, just for the split second it does, it has a raster then cycles off only to turn back on again. Any ideas? or common replacement part(s)? Thanks.

Sounds like the convergence chips have quit working. They are usually located on the main board, attached to a large heat-sink. They are black, about the size of a small cellular phone and are marked "STK-###". If you have any soldering skills you should be able to replace them yourself. You can find a kit at www.tvrepairkits.com. They also include a step by step instruction on how to replace them.

Convergence or power supply most likely.

I have taken the connector "PPD5" off. It goes to the deflection. The power supply board's 5 green LEDs and 1 red LED will come on and stay on with this connector off. Just trying to narrow down cause since I don't remember seeing any convergence problems as the screen looked pretty sharp before it died.

I have replaced the convergence chips with no luck. Any other ideas?

I'd wonder about the B-Plus to the HOT running too high since you said the raster comes on for a short time.
Any heavy load could cause the set to attempt to turn on, sense it has a overload and then shut off.

Also, I can unplug one of the vertical/horizontal deflection yokes on either three tubes and the power supply will stay on.

That would imply vertical. H windings in parallel - V windings in series.

"That would imply vertical. H windings in parallel - V windings in series." That is true. Very Happy

B+ should be 115v but measured 116.3v. I noticed on QH01 (H.V. OUT) that the drain measured 330v but it should be 255.6v.

For those who may not have a schematic for this. Here is one: http://www.4shared.com/dir/kwh24LmD/sharing.html

Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.
