Philips TV IR Receiver not responding as expected

Our Philips Blackline S TV (29PT5322) Remote sensor doesn't respond accordingly to some of the buttons from the remote, while most commands do function as expected. Replacing the remote didn't solve the problem.
When these buttons are pressed, the TV LED does flash orange.
These are the symptoms:
* buttons "Menu", "arrow left(-)", "arrow right(+)" -> nothing happens
This is a problem because the arrows are needed to change settings
* red button "standby" does only mute the sound, even though the TV reacts to the remote as if it actually is in standby mode.

Unfortanate, but this sounds like a professional repair job.

Sounds like it might be a costly repair... Not sure if the TV is worth that.
(or maybe I'm just looking for an excuse to get a flatpanel widescreen TV Twisted Evil
