Adjusting CD-drive (Teac P700)

The player has problems changing tracks. Its diff. to lock on the track.
There are four or five alignment points. The tracking is the most obvious place to start. What should I try? Thanks alot for any comment! Wink

dont touch any alignment controls they are for factory use only, just replace the pickup, the alignments require the use of specialised test discs and high frequency oscilloscopes 50mhz+ and i have never had a cd player go out of alignment on its own.

... but it has one problem left, it woant go back to track number 1... Strange. I have to push the laser... All other tracks works well.

Now its 100% I'm glad I didn't go out for a new laser... There is also an alignment screw on the side. Five places to adjust. I listened to the drive and adjusted it according to how it sounded! Track number one adjusment, is the mentioned sidescrew (blue).

Hi,

Its fortunate u got the player to work fine after some adjustments.

However, its good to know that this only fix the problem on a temporary basis...

U could have tuned up the laser power on the pickup lens thus making it easier to read discs. This will shorter the lifespan of the lens drastically. Well, nevermind since the lens is "dying" anyway. Wink

1 more tip to add, not sure if u have already tried: clean the lens 1st before attempting any repair/ replacement. Smile

Thanks Fongs. I've cleans the laser. Do you think the one screw on the side is the laserpower adjustment? Maybe I should let some servicemen take care of it?

Thanks a bunch for your good comments! The drive is very good. I've tested many different drives lately, and this is the best one. Pioneer Stable Platter, laserdiscplayer and a DVD. The Teac is about to get a new clock with a 2ppm crystal (5ppm adjusted to 2ppm with HP-freq.counter).

The player has problems reading track 1 again... The laser is baging into its stops and tries multiple times to read track 1 without luck. This happens ONLY when playing one of the other tracks and wanting to go back to track 1. If I go to track 2 and then back again, it reads track 1 ok again. Strange. Any tips?
