dvd player repair

i have a panosonic dvd/vhs player/recorder which i have retardedly gone through the setup menus and changed something to with the remote control frequency that the dvd player recieves. Now I cannot use it and the only buttons that will let you manipualte the on screen menus are on the remote. I have tried to locate the memory battery inside the player to no avail, if one even exists that is. Any help much appreicated.
