hi,

i have a sony kvx 2941d color tv which is around 14 years old.

one fine morning when i switched on, there was a sharp noise. i found it was a spark jumping in between flyback wire near anode cap and metal jacket on crt.

now tv is totaly dead, on power up, there is some noise as if it is starting normally, even red led on front panel comes on for a moment then everyting dies out, there is no power at the ouput of smps.

at power up smps conducts for about 2 or 3 seconds and then stops conducting. now there are no sparks.

to me it appears that if the high voltage sparks has furhter caused demaged because of which tv is totally dead!

please help me.

regards

hi,

thanks for replying.

i need to first fix the power supply since it is now dead.

pin no 16 of smps should have 12.0 v dc when working normally.

it is having only 8.0 v. at start up, 12.0 v appears for 1 or 2 seconds and then die down to 8.0 v.

the smps out to main power switching transistor are very weak pulses and is not able to switch on the power supply.

please advise how to trouble shoot.

also please advise in detail on how to insulate the "altor arcing cap"

thanks in advance for assitance.

regards

vishal

You need to replace the flyback and probably the horizontal output transistor. The reason it drops from 12 to 8vdc is the set is going into shut down.

is there a way to test the fbt.

the horizontal transistor seems to be ok on diode check of multimeter.

also please suggest a good source for sony fbt. p/n is 1-439-416-51.
