I aquired another Projection TV made by Toshiba. Unfortunately, it's had the serial sticker at the rear removed for some reason.

But after a few hours searching, I strongly believe it to be a 42PW33
(http://www.home-entertainment.toshiba.co.uk/consumer/products.nsf/files/42PW33/$file/42pw33.jpg?openelement)

Anyway, I know it has a convergance problem, that I will replace the IC's afterwards. But the main problem at the minute with this one is it's not turning on. It's stuck in standby I guess.

It has 2 LED's on the front. 1 red, 1 green. Red is permanently on. When trying to exit standby to use, the TV makes the 'hiss' noise for a split second then the green light starts to flash. This light is next to what looks like a 'Sleep Timer' function icon. Any idea's? Or perhaps someone knows where I might find a service manual for it?

Hi Minnie... Your the most helpful person on this section! Wink

My Samsung chips arrived this morning, gonna be soldering those in a mo.

This Toshiba one though, I obviously did the search before posting and did find that post. Although that is about the convergence, I cant seem to get the machine on. Is that doing it to 'safe guard' anything blowing?

IE - I need to change the chips in order to get it out of the standby problem?

Hell yes, it's common for the IC's to make the set go into shut down because shorted IC's will trip the x-ray protect. Change the ic's, check the pico fuses, and check the resistors. Same as the samsung.

After loads of searching and thumbing through forum after forum, site after site.

I've found (I think) the name of the IC's I need for this model.

They are much smaller than the repvious ones, but please check my findings please.

These IC's are names SLA4501M's and have the number 3517 written on the side with JAPAN in large letters. I'm sure I've found them as they have 3 large heatsinks attached to them.

If I'm write, I've tried a google search to find a place to get these from and it was very vague in it's search.

Any ideas Minnie?

All details for this TV are above.
I'm wondering if there is a US equivilent that maybe the same chips with a different name?

I have also posted an image of what I think are the IC Chips...

From above the 3 chips (Bit blurry, crap camera)

As said, markings are SLA4501M and have 9 pins each.
Am hoping I'm looking in the wrong plaace and they are actually STK's elsewhere that need replacing.

I can't find a service manual on this. Evil or Very Mad
Toshiba usually uses 392-110's.
