if it is the large metal box type arrangement it is a voltage regulator .this is quite prone to failure.if i remember correctly it has three connections so should not be hard to check

@ klpdg

You've got a mail...

@ tsgunnell

it is the large metal box, which is a heatsinker. Surely it is not hard to check, but the problem is, that the original part was changed into a arrangement of a 2N3055 and a 7812. From the 7812 a only used 2 connections: IN soldered together with B, OUT soldered together with E.
Quiet strange. So I need the original "NAME" of the part IC402 to make the TV run again. In this stage now, when power is switched on, the 2N3055 gets hot, no line drive and so on. But to find the failure part, I need to know what IC402 is. Thanks for your help.

@ klpdg

"Dear Friend",
I'm sorry. I won't send you 5$ for answering my question. Instead of this I'd rather try to run the TV-Set without your help. Thank you very much anyway.

@ Mike (Sheldons TV)

You don't have the exact "name" of IC402? Sorry for my bad English.
