Thanks Gary
I am having problems here. I dont normally do TV's, but this is my own.
I have until the weekend to fix it or it goes to the tip!
I have the service manual which shows the voltages at test points, but dont know how to test when the circuit is not powered. RL806 has 240VAC and that is as far as i can get, any help would be appreciated.
Cheers

if set does not start with burst of eht check for short circuit between collector of line output transistor and ground, if short circuit replace transistor and check for dry joints on line drive transformer, if no dry joints present replace line output transformer.

Thanks Gary.
There is no burst of eht. No short on collector.
Base and emitter are both short to earth but i presume correct without power.
Anything else?
(I think im getting into this now)

Thanks
Steve

remove the line output transistor, solder a 60w 240v light bulb across c861, switch set on, if bulb lights fault is more than likely in the line stage, if it doesnt its in the psu,

Thanks again Gary, I really appreciate this.
I have done as instructed and the light did not come on.
There is no voltage accross C861.
(I must be getting near the fault now)
Cheers

Thanks Gary.
Here we go.
Q801-no short.
R823/4/5-all OK.
R820/1-perfect.
R809-OK.
(Im scratching my head trying to understand what is happening. What causes RL806 to switch off? Is this the protection circuit?)
Thanks
Steve

PS-My wife has extended the going to the tip deadline- she thinks i am making progress!!

Not sure about D815.
How should it test?
Cheers
