|
|
hello,
I have a photographic enlarger with a voltage-controlled transformer. sometimes when i power it up, it takes a while to reach full-power (the lamp is dimmed and the fan doesn't spin up at full speed).
i'm trying to work out if the issue is with the power supply, which it seems. now, since these things cost a bundle to replace, i'm trying to see if i can just replace the tranformer and leave the voltage reg circuits in place. is this do-able? or could the problem be with that circuitry? are transformers all or nothing beasts so if it passes current it is ok?
lotsa questions. thanks for your help!! |

Transformers rarely break down it self.
Most of the time, it's the electronics supplying and controlling the power supply which are failing.
The realy are "all or nothing beasts"!
