Hitachi C28W410SN - Loss of colour/picture quality - Please

I own a Hitachi c28w410sn, however it has a tendency to lose colour and in the process picture quality. The quality of the picture seems to vary with the amount of white in the shot - the more white the worse the picture. Furthermore to this the unit can be difficult to switch on, as it will 'load' showing for example a black screen a dark blue then dark green screen before switching itself off, but this seems to happen on certain channels with varying signal strength.
I have tried to garner as much information as i can from various forums and this model of Hitachi is susceptable to dry connections. I presume that this is a faulty soldered joint within the TV and that they are fixable? Is this a difficult/tricky task to perform?
