Hi,
This head unit is asking me for the code, the previous owner didn't include the owner's manual. Could you give a hand? I'd really like to keep the stock unit.
CLARION (P-596) (a Gamma model I think?)
VWZ9Z3Y0039747
373.035.131.H
PE-HP06CH-01
There are no other numbers on the body of the unit.
Thanks!

Hi.
Your radio is made by CLARION and the only CLARION code that can be calculated (using a serial number ) anywhere on the Internet is if your radio also has a BARCODE SERIAL NUMBER beginning with C 7000000 + + + + on a separate label somewhere on the metal casing.
(Note ...not beginning with CL.)
If not then it will only be available from your Main Dealer or a Decoding Service or your local Car Radio / Audio Store who will connect a laptop to read/recode the memory chip (EEPROM) inside your radio

Thanks for the information.
Unfortunately there's this other label that was ripped off when I removed the radio, I guess that's what happens after twenty-something years in the same place.
I guess I'll just replace it with a newer aftermarket unit, I had read about reading the EPROM dump and it's far more expensive than what this old cassette deck is worth.

Thanks for your input and happy Christmas!
