Can anyone help me find information on the charging circuit and the SMT fuse location on a Dell 5150 inspiron ?? I also need to solder in a new power jack.
System does not charge the battery and will not recognize the AC adapter. |

Hello,
Are you shure that the ac adapter is ok?
The charger has 3wires, maybe one is damaged.
Cann you try with another charger?
please note that only dell charger works. |

Yeah I tried that. The motherboard definitely does not let power through. |

If you disconect the baterry, and connect the Ac adapter, the laptop starts?
If yes the problem isonly the charging circuit, and the Fuse is around the battery connector.
Pls let me know |

I, i have a problem with my inspiron 5150. battery is not charged and Laptop does not power on with AC adapter. The charging circuit is quite simple. Searche for fujitsu 3887 smc IC. this is the core charging circuit.
ear this theri is some smd logic. this logic seem to activate the charging cicuit. and is controlled by another ic on the board. in my case there is a short circuit around the +5v. Due to this short the MAX1632 (dc/dc) reset himself after some seconds. and so the battery logic is never activated. as a result of the short the power led and battery led flashes every 7 seconds. |

Hi,
Not sure if this will help, but http://notebookpowerjacks.com has a pinout of this jack with an explanation of what each pin does. Could this be a problem with the center pin?
