My husband & son were playing Nintendo on this set when it suddenly shut off. No cracks or pops just shut off suddenly. We unplugged the set overnight but still nothing. HELP!

The most likely cause is that the horizontal output transistor has shorted and blown the power fuse. Lacking that, the primary power supply on this model is so complicted that it could be any number of conditions and will require it to be taken to a shop for work. Given the age of this set, you might check www.FreeFlatScreens.com/default.aspx?referer=7509165 for an opportunity to easrn a free replacement for this set. Zeniths manufactured from the early to late 90's are known to have very unreliable CRTs.

Thanks for the information. BTW, where would the horizontal output transistor & and the power supply fuse be? My husband fixed our icemaker with information & schematics we found online, but we haven't found a schematic for this. This is a huge set & we hate to haul it out of the basement to a shop & a service call here in the country would cost $75.00+ before the repair.

You can go to www.samswebsite.com and download Photofact #3037 for $20. This is the technical package for this set and may even give you some troubleshooting tips if the HOT turns out not to be the problem. Good Luck
