Hi,

The picture on my SONY KV-25X5U started to get smaller and disappear and now there is no picture at all when you switch the TV on. The audio is however fine.

The standby LED blinks 5 times.

Can anyone suggest what the problem might be?

Thanks

Has classic symptoms of dried up capacitors in the vertical output circuit. Most times you need to check the solder connections around the verical circuit as they tend to crack from heat. Also when they reach this stage, you run the risk of destroying the vertical IC all together from lack of filtering on those lines. Better to get them repaired sooner than later.
The IC can only take so much ripple on it before it gives out.

Also check any high voltage capacitors near the flyback while you're at it. You really need those main feeds to be healthy.

Good Luck!
