Hi,
please help me with this one if you can.
I've got a no-name 17" LCD monitor that displays a picture for about half a second when switched on, after that the screen goes blank. It's not just the pixels, the background light is switched off as well. The problem occurs each time I turn it on.
I have some skills in repairing electronics equipment, but I'm new to LCD screens and there may be some issues I don't know. Unfortunately there's no info on Sam's repair FAQ so I have to post questions
I suspect some protection circuitry kicking in due to an overload (but this may be a false track). Does anyone have a document/link on how to test the screen for basic parameters, like supply voltages, critical components etc.?
Any help is very much appreciated,
regards, Leo |

I also have this problem. The monitor is a 17" TFT Digimate M17GKA. When turned on the monitor correctly shows the picture, but after less than a second the picture becomes extremely dark and the picture can ony just be discerned.

My son has a 17" LCD that was purchased from Tiny before they went bust and a couple of times this happened also.
I checked the separate power supply output and was alright and switched off from the mains for a while to cool and then came back to life again.
On another couple of times I disconnected the d.c jack and reconnected a few times and worked alright again.
It has currently been working normally for some time now and will not investigate at the moment as under warranty (extended warranty external to Tiny). |

Did anyone get anywhere with this 'switching off' fault, as I have a similar problem with my 17inch Akai LMH17 - see my post on this forum dated Apr16. My fault seems to be heat related as the screen goes blank first time from cold, after a minute or so, but thereafter increasingly more quickly, when power cycling, which is the only way to reset it. The strange thing is that the fault only occurs when there is a signal input. With no signal input the screen backlight stays on all the time, and menus etc work OK.
I have tried to isolate where the fault might be using freezer spray and a fan, but with no success so far. I guess if it's an IC or a surface mounted component, it's gonna be difficult to repair, but it's quite frustrating with no circuit diagram to help. |
