Problem with Pioneer VSX-d337

Bought this Unit new same Years ago, probably used it no more than 20-30 Hr's since then, bought only for the benefit of my Grand children!
Some time ago I switched on the unit and it keept switching off and on again & again, no sound!
I disconnected everething to no avail, the front panel lights up & immediately goes off again, a relay can be heard switching with the lights on the front panel. Could it be the a overload cutout?
I checked the speakers and found the impedience on the centre speaker to be 6 ohm! (it was supplied with the Unit!) all others are 8 ohms the manual says 8-16 ohm.
I had quotes for the repair from $ 180 to $ 300! Shurely this Unit would not be worth that mutch anymore.
Any help would be very mutch appreciated,
