Blaupunkt TV kaput - suspect flyback- anyway of checking it?

G'day,

I have a Blaupunkt IS 70 -35 VT television that won't power up.

The set had been collapsing horizontally for a while but this could be fixed by banging the back of the set. Now it's gone kaput. No picture, no sound

The flyback transformer is clicking every couple of seconds and has a blackened appearence. The standby light flicks on & off at the same time.

Any tips, especially for checking if the flyback is faulty?
