36" Sony Trinitron flat screen

Please help. There is a small red lite next to the power button that is constantly flashing now. No matter what I push the tv won't come on. In the past when you first turn the tv on this lite would come on but go out as soon as the picture came on. The red lite won't stop flashing no matter what I push including the power button. Any suggestions?? Thank you. Bob
