emerson microwave at575, model 1989....yikes

My microwave counts down but the magnetron is not turning on... At first I thought it was the touch pad, but I tried the defrost and got the same count down without the microwave relly turning on/engaging.

Is it the touchpad or is the unit's microwave emitter shot?

Any ideas would be helpful. It's a hand-me-down so I do not have a manual or any clue....

Is it the touchpad or after 16 years do the microwave units just STOP!!!!
