sharp aquos with avc problems?

Hello, has anyone noted problems with the AVC unit on Sharp Aquos (specifically model LC-30HV4U). Mine does not seem to communicate with the monitor and just produces a steady red light on the monitor versus the steady green that is supposed to occur.

I also purchased a refurbished AVC that arrived with the same problem. Any thoughts? Any solution on repair of this problem with the AVC?
