Sony STR-DE435 going into "Protector" Mode

Ok, so i have an STR-DE435 that goes into protector mode, but last night i finally tore it down and removed everything except for the front display/controls and the main amp and front speaker output board. The unit still goes in to its safe mode basically I've come to the conclusion that it is that main amp module that is actually fairly inexpensive, however I basically just want to check to make sure that disconnected items will not cause protect mode. It doesn't really make sense that they would, but before I buy the parts!
