Hi,

I`m attempting to test an electronic circuit. It is actually a resonant tank circuit.

Fortunately I have a few fully functional circuit boards which are exactly the same as the dead one.

I know that testing components **in circuit** sometimes gives misleading results. So I have been comparing the readings from the dead board to the readings from the functional board-in circuit- Just using diode checks or ohms checks with a DMM, across transistors, diodes caps etc.

Is this a reliable way to test - comparing the readings from the dead board to the live board - in circuit?

Be very grateful if someone fully experienced could advise on this.

Thanks ekis Cool

Not a bad idea & can be helpful in determining the faulty component. Prefer to have the actual schematic of the circuit, however when that is not the option, having a working board can be helpful. Better yet & if possible, try getting some voltage readings on a working circuit to aid in trouble shooting.

Thanks for your advice, I`m not terribly experienced yet. I do have the schematics too.

Though some of these are still difficult to fix,,if anyone knows anything about inverter boards........
