Samsung DynaFlat Combo TV

I am a tech coordinator for a very small school district. I know nothing about TVs. We have a Samsung DynaFlat TV that is broken. When it is plugged in and turned on all it does is emit a very high pitched whine. It is out of warrenty. My superintendent wants to just trash the TV, but I would like to see if it is an easy fix. Researched on samsung site, but found no mention of shrill noise in troubleshooting manuals.
