Hey - I am trying to join togethr a simple 2 way radio to the smalll circuit board inside those tacky cards you get that when you open them, they sing you a tune!
Sounds silly but its part of this architecture project I am doing. What I am trying to achieve is replacing the talk button on a radio ( the one you hold down to talk) to become acitvated by the opening of a page in a book. What I would like to happen is for the radio to stay on and people to be able to talk as long as the page is open and then when it is closed for the radio to stop transmitting.
Being a general novice at everything I had a go but obviusly it doesn't quite work - I also understand that you all probably need alot more information to help me.
If anyone has the faintest idea I would love a little help and maybe I can photograph the inside of what I have done to aid my quest!
Any suggestions? |

Basically you would have to simulate the effect of physically pushing the switch and for this you could use a relay. By applying a voltage through the relay coil directly or indirectly using a transistor circuit via a switch (you may be able to remove the switch from those tacky cards for the purpose) the relay would close the contacts and change from receive to transmit mode if the correct contacts have been chosen and wired correctly. A diode would have to be connected in reverse across the coil to avoid voltage spikes due to the coil.
The relay chosen would depend on the push switch contacts and the voltage you decide to use (maybe choose a voltage that the handset has already or a pp3 9volt battery). |
