Help me fix my stand alone recorder Technika DVD-R 2005

I bought a faulty Technika DVD-r 2005, I know it's not exactly top of the range but I only paid £2.70 + £10 p&p. Anyway the drawer ejects ok but won't load back into the machine. it looks to me like the machine thinks the drawer is in when it's out and vice versa.

When you press the open/close button the drawer ejects press it again and it still try's to eject. Press play and again it trys to eject. The laser also comes on when you press play with the drawer out. Wierd eh. Basically the motor that controls the drawer seems to be only working in the one direction. Any suggestions greatly appreciated.
