Hi, I'm new to this forum so bear with me please. I have a sony ccd-trv66 camcorder that's been acting up lately. Basically when the battery is connected or I have the power from the ac adapter attached, the camera intermittentl flickers on and off from vtr mode to camera mode and off when it does manage to stop for a brief period in camera mode, the lit up vtr buttons remain lit. but the camera basically goes balistic switching on and off and into different modes. The times that it is stable, i try going into menu and as i turn the menu wheel it sort of jumps to different icons on the screen as if your spinning the menu wheel back and forth. Weird. THe camera has never been dropped or had anything weird done to it like excess moisture or anything. It's like the camera is possesed. PLease help get the demons out!! Thanks.

Actually i notice that if the camera is off and the battery remains attached, the camera will flicker on and off sporadically and it'll do it's beep each time it turns on and off.

these are tiny "push" type switches that must be soldered onto the front panel circuit board. Easily accessible. A very common problem with Sony camcorders. Very inexpensive (about $5 each). Check out MCM Electronics for availability.

All,

I am having the same problem with my Sony TRV-66. Can you give more specific details on how to disassemble the TRV-66. I have removed all the screws I can see on the nose of the camera, but it is not coming apart as easily as I would expect. Before I do more damage than good, I am seeking guidance on how to proceed.

Also, can you give a part number for the switches you mentioned from MCM. That way, I can order them in advance of tearing this unit down completely? My wife videos frequently, so I'm trying to minimize the downtime.

Thanks.
