My son connected extra speakers to his panasonic stereo system and now when he switches it on, it switches itself off straight away. Does anyone know what he has done to it and if it would be worthwhile having it repaired.

I take it you have tried switching it on with no speakers attached.

Car cd player turns on and off on it's own. Began after connecting amp and subs. Any clues?

it is possible that the speaker wiring as short circuited and blown the output stage if it is an ic based output stage it is usually the chip but other things need to be checked before you replace the chip

gumbie

By connecting the extra speakers the output impedance may have been halved and very likely he may have blown the output transistors or IC.

say two 8 ohm speakers in parallel will give a 4 ohm impedance, twice the current and possible damage.

Also if the wiring was shorted that could have done damage to the output stages as well.
