My Magnavox LCD tv powers off after being on for a few minutes. I can power it back on, and it wil stay on for a minute or two. I don't know if it's worth the $160 repair estimate I got. I hope someone can give me a clue as to the problem.
The model number is 15MF050V/17. Hope someone can help. Thanks.

There are two possible causes for this, a dry solder joint, and a component failing.
If the problem is a dry joint, you might be able to induce the fault by stressing, bending, the pcb while the display is working, do this progressivly to isolate the problem, then, just resolder.
This is easier to explain than to Do!
More likely, the problem is caused by a component leaking, drawing more current than it should, this may also be difficult to isolate.
Tips! a component which gets Hot. try a freezer spray, if cooling an individual component causes normal operation that may be the fault.
Sadly, it may also be only another symptom.
Electrolytic Capacitors Drying out will also cause this type of misoperation, finding by test meter or by substitution.
It does seem that your repair quotation may be excessive, try another repair service also!
