Sony HCD-551 sound cutting out

I have one of these, and when we get the volume up to about the 9-10:00 position, if there is a decent amount of base the volume cuts out for about a second. It will come back on, but will continue cutting out until you turn the volume down a little. Any ideas?

sounds like you have poor solder connections.need to check pcbs and grounds.
