I am currently thinking of buying a new Television but can decide between Plasma Or LCD. I was told that Plasmas leak as soon as you turn them on and gives them a short life span (any truth to this).

Plasma's don't leak, but aren't holding up very well. LCD seems to be fairing better. No matter, take the extended warranty no matter what you buy.

Agreed, LCD's seem to hold up longer & Ext warranty is strongly recommended.

While not fan of the DLP (due to annoying rainbow effect & having a light bulb
& spinning wheel that will need replacing), The LED based model put out by Samsung looks promising (no light bulb or color wheel to wear out).

If you read Consumer Reports, you'll see that extended warranties are a bad deal, especially since manufacturer's warranties generally cover the first year. I do agree thought that the LCD is the better buy.
