Philips 29PT6773/05 - problem watching DVD's

I've been trying to hook up my Aunt's TV - a Philips 29PT6773/05 to a DVD player, but when I do, the signal from the DVD player is played on the right channel and the signal from the TV is played on the left channel. I've tried numerous Scart leads thinking that was the problem - no joy. I've tried connecting via Scart lead through EXT1 and EXT2 - same problem on both.... ?
Help! Please!
