I just bought a brand new Sony FD Trinitron Wega 34" Widescreen HDTV (model #KD34XBR970) and I'm having a few problems. This first is that images get skinnier as they move toward the center of the screen or another way to say it is that the middle of the screen displays images too skinny, enough that a square noticeable looks like a rectangle. I already called Sony and they said to call a repairman which I did and I set up a house call. I figured I would see what they could do, and then take it back if I didn't like the results. However then I noticed that when the TV is displaying a very bright picture, most noticeable when it is completely white I can see a vague vertical line a few pixels wide on the left edge of the screen and two horizontal lines at the top and bottom of the screen that are one pixel wide, all of which are a light gray color. Lastly, when displaying in 4:3 mode, it curves out a bit at the bottom on each side; this I think is a pretty common problem though. My first problem seemed like it was perhaps just a calibration problem, nothing wrong with the actual tube, but when I noticed the second problem it started to make me think that maybe there was more too it. None of the other CRTs that I have, have any of these problems. So I am wondering if all HD or flat tube CRTs have problems like this or if there might be something wrong with the tube and I need to take my TV back and exchange it for a new one. Any help and input is greatly appreciated. |

If the set is new then I wouldn't waste time with it. Return it and have the store show you the pictures on the replacement before you take it home so you are satisfied. If manufacturers can't be bothered to ensure correct picture geometry then why should the customer accept it. |
