Mini DV deck

I have a Sony GV-D900 video Walkman mini DV deck which plays miniDV tapes and is used as a deck to capture footage from miniDV tapes into Final Cut Pro software. Often when I push Play it goes Reverse or it goes Fast Forward or it simply does not respond. Similarly, if I push other buttons, anything can happen. Sometimes it works okay. This is an intermitent problem of course.

Can anyone help me in determining the problem components and the solution? Where could I get a schematic for the deck?
