How to enter code for thePhillip car 400

Hi I have a Phillips Car400 RC player phillips have sent me a keypass plus have reset the code for me. My problem is i cant get to type in the code to get the radio to work.
I turn on ignition, turn off radio.
I press and hold AS button and turn on radio (wait 3 seconds +)
The message i get any time i turn on the radio holding down the AS button is
"7 SAFE"
Yesterday (05/06/07) I was just playing about just pressing all buttons. When I looked down at the display I hade the following.
7 _ _ _ _. I enter the code supplied to me by phillips then pressed the AS button but noting....!
Can any one help
