Wow... it's sure nice to have HD instead of Blur-vision again!!
The blue convergence is controlled by Q752, which is the one towards the front.
I know this because I carefully studied the schematics and the board traces, both in the manual and on the board. I then replaced Q751 and R7716. Put the set back together. NO CHANGE.
So I replaced Q752 and R7731. I noticed the tell-tale blister on the resistor (but it was impossible to see before it was pulled out).
Problem solved!
Thanks for your help!

Hey minnie, thanks for pointing me to this thread. I too found the bad resistor and just finished soldering a new one in place and the TV is back to normal again! Yay! I had to go into the 56 pt convergence, but that was a breeze comparatively! Thanks again to all! |

For others out there, here's what you may be looking for:
This was directly under the heat sink that the STKs are attached to.
The light blue one at the back was replaced last year while the TV was still under extended warranty and had the same problem. |

Good job Richey!!
You didn't need to replace the SDK amp just the resistor?

Hello All,
I replaced the STK-392 110 IC's for the dreaded convergence problem. I forgot to correctly document the connectors and I an stuck with a wires with a connector that is not going anywhere (Blue and white - 9 pins) and a rear connector on the vertical metal box (8 pins I think) . I would appreciate it if someone can help me out.
Thanks |

guestabc,
I was able to pull the entire "mother board" out and make my repairs without disconnecting even one cable.
BUT I thought I'd be disconnecting them all so I took a whole bunch of digital photos from many angles. If your model is the same or similar I can email the photos to you. Actually, I suppose I could put them into an album at Webshots and give you the link too.

Unfortunately we had replaced the two STKs first and the TV was still doing the same thing. Then after closer inspection I found the bad resistor. The STKs may have been ok... ? Ah well, I kept them. |

I've got the same problem, this thread has shown me what I need to do. My only question is if it would be to my advantage to replace the STK392-110's with STK392-150's? |
